Change is a fundamental but sometimes neglected aspect of information and database systems. The management of evolution and change and the ability for database, information and knowledge-based systems to deal with change is an essential component in developing and maintaining truly useful systems. Many approaches to handling evolution and change have been proposed in various areas of data management and this forum seeks to bring together researchers and practitioners from both more established areas and those from emerging areas to look at this issue. The second ECDM workshop (the first ECDM workshop was held with ER'99 in Paris and its report can be found in SIGMOD Record 29(1):21-25) will deal with the manner in which change can be handled, and the semantics of evolving data and data structure in computer based systems.
Workshop topics include, but are not limited to:Proceedings of all workshops will be published as part of the Springer-Verlag, Lecture Notes in Computer Science series (LNCS), as a single volume separate from the ER Conference proceedings. Pre-proceedings will be available for all workshops participants.
After rigorous refereeing by the programme committee and other invited experts, 9 of the 19 papers submitted have been accepted for presentation and publication at the conference. The list of accepted papers can be found here. Successful authors should refer to the instructions listed here.
